With an area of 114 km2, the territory of Santa Comba Dão has about 10,641 inhabitants, having one of the highest population density rates in the Dão-Lafões region.

Inaugurated in 2011, Ecopista do Dão travels along the tracks of the old railway link between Santa Comba Dão and Viseu, in an extension of 49 km, allowing a nature tourism that offers magnificent views. Walking through the Ecopista or the rural and forest paths, the visitor is surprised at each curve of the river, with nooks populated by chestnut trees, oaks and cork oaks, cultivated fields and small villages distributed harmoniously by the landscape, dominated by the aguieira reservoir and Santa Comba Dão. In summer, you can cool off, sunbathe or relax in one of the county's bathing areas, or in the municipal pools.
With trails and trails distributed throughout the county, the climate invites, most of the year, to hiking, cycling and outdoor life, but also to the reunion of family and friends. In these moments of conviviality and fraternization, nothing better than the local gastronomy to make them even more special and striking: from lamprey rice to dão style, to the fish stew of the Dão and Criz river; from stew to shepherdess, to cabidela rice; from chanfana, to the kid baked in a wood oven, among many other delicacies. For dessert, taste the cream milk and sweet rice of the region, or the typical sweet broinhas of Santa Columba, a product of excellence of the county.
