The vice-president of Turismo Centro de Portugal, Anabela Freitas, emphasized the importance of attracting events of international projection to the region. "Wine Future", in its fourth edition, chose Coimbra as the stage, becoming a valuable opportunity for local producers and Portuguese wines, especially those from the 5 Wine Commissions in the region.
Anabela Freitas underlined that this event not only highlights the excellence of the region's wines, but also serves as an international showcase for the entire territory of Central Portugal. Highlighting the strategy of Turismo Centro de Portugal, she highlighted the importance of wine tourism and gastronomy as attractions for visitors, uniting the 8 Intermunicipal Communities in the region.
The opening session was attended by prominent figures, including Pancho Campo, founder of Wine Future, Frederico Falcão, president of ViniPortugal, José Manuel Silva, mayor of Coimbra, and Jorge Brandão, member of the steering committee of the Regional Operational Program of the Center.
The event addressed contemporary challenges of wine production, including attracting new audiences and climate change. In a panel entitled "Evolution of Wine Tourism – From the Winery to Virtual Tours", Jorge Sampaio, Member of the Executive Committee of Turismo Centro de Portugal, shared insights alongside other global experts.
Turismo Centro de Portugal had an active participation as an institutional partner of the event, presenting a space for exhibition and tasting of regional wines, in addition to providing tourist information about the territory.
"Wine Future" provided an in-depth analysis of the global challenges facing the wine industry, including consumer evolution, innovations, economics and marketing. Distinguished speakers, such as the 2020 Nobel Prize in Economics, Christopher Pissarides, contributed with valuable reflections on the challenges of the world economy, with emphasis on Artificial Intelligence.
