The Municipality of Ferreira do Zêzere reinforces its commitment to the oral health of the community through the continuous implementation of the Municipal Oral Health Program, called "Sorrisos (Con)Sentidos". This initiative is carried out in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra, ensuring a specialized and comprehensive approach.
Throughout the current school year, the program aims to develop several oral health literacy actions, with a special focus on pregnant women, children and young people living in the municipality. These actions aim not only to promote the importance of oral health, but also to provide practical knowledge and essential advice for maintaining a healthy smile at all stages of life.
A crucial component of the programme is the screening and diagnosis of children entering pre-school education. This systematic follow-up contributes to the early identification of possible oral health problems, allowing for appropriate preventive and educational interventions.
The Municipality of Ferreira do Zêzere stands out for the integration of good practices in oral health, recognizing the importance of this area for the overall well-being of the population. The partnership with the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra strengthens the quality and scope of the actions developed, ensuring a positive impact on the community.
Oral health is a fundamental pillar for overall health, and the Municipality is committed to creating conditions conducive to universal access to quality oral health care. The "Sorrisos (Con)Sentidos" program reflects Ferreira do Zêzere's continued commitment to fostering an informed, healthy and smiling community.
